The Erfurt Cathedral is the most important and oldest church in Erfurt. During the Second World War was the cathedral spared of direct bomb hits. However, roof and windows of the choir were partially damaged by explosions in the vicinity. In 1965 was the beginning of renewed by extensive restoration work.
